HUD HUD Housing Counseling Program Notice of Funding Availability (NOFA)- Fiscal Year 2010: HUD today announced that $79 million is available for a broad range of housing counseling programs to help families find & preserve housing. The available funding is an increase of $21 million, or 27 percent, over last year. These grants will be awarded competitively to hundreds of HUD-approved counseling agencies & State Housing Finance Agencies that offer a variety of services including how to avoid foreclosure, how to purchase or rent a home, how to improve credit scores, & how to qualify for a reverse mortgage. HUD Announces FHA "First Look" Sales Method for Eligible NSP Purchasers:
HUD Secretary Shaun Donovan announced on 7/12/10 a new Departmental initiative that gives state & local governments & nonprofit organizations participating in HUD's Neighborhood Stabilization Program (NSP) preference to acquire homes from the Department's inventory of foreclosed properties, commonly known as "HUD homes."

Announcing the HopeLoan Port: The HOPE NOW Alliance recently announced the launch of a new web portal, HOPE LoanPort™, that HUD believes has the potential to significantly improve the execution of HAMP and non-HAMP modifications. This new web portal will allow counselors to collect the necessary documents from homeowners, upload the completed package, submit the completed package directly to servicers, and track the status of a borrower's application.

FHA Announces Policy Changes to Address Risk & Strengthen Finances: FHA Commissioner David Stevens has announced a set of policy changes to strengthen the FHA’s capital reserves, while enabling the agency to continue to fulfill its mission to provide access to homeownership for underserved communities. HUD Takes Action to Speed the Sale of Foreclosed Properties to New Owners:
HUD Secretary Shaun Donovan has announced a temporary policy that will expand access to FHA mortgage insurance & allow for the quick resale of foreclosed properties. Read the press release and the property flipping waiver.
